The WFM Osa (meaning “Wasp”) was produced by Warsaw Motorcycle Factory (Warszawska Fabryka Motocykli) between 1959 and 1965, bringing a touch of style and practicality to Poland’s streets. Designed as a comfortable and affordable means of transport, it became a favorite among urban commuters and weekend riders during the country’s post-war modernization.
Elegant and Functional Design
With its streamlined bodywork, leg shields, and comfortable seat, the Osa combined European scooter aesthetics with Polish engineering. Its step-through frame made mounting easy, while enclosed mechanical parts kept riders cleaner in wet or dusty conditions. Powered by a single-cylinder, two-stroke engine—most commonly a 150cc unit—the Osa could reach speeds of around 80 km/h, making it quick enough for city traffic while frugal on fuel. The suspension system, with hydraulic shock absorbers, offered a smooth ride over uneven roads, and drum brakes provided reliable stopping power.

Although most units stayed in Poland, the Osa was also exported to several countries, earning respect for its reliability and distinctive styling. It competed directly with popular Western scooters of the era, offering a more affordable alternative without sacrificing comfort or practicality.
